The Pennsylvania Game Commission has sounded the alarms, as many wild deer in the state have died from chronic wasting disease (CWD). Similar to mad cow, CWD plagues 26 states around the country, and Pennsylvania has battled it for the better part of seven years. Since its entrance into PA, the Game Commission has followed a series of plans to prevent the spread of CWD, and plans to revise its strategy in 2020. Until then, the appropriate levels of government continue to test wild and farm raised deer across the state to ensure the health of Pennsylvanians.
