The Central Dauphin School Board of Directors and Administration are hosting a special public workshop on pension challenges facing the district.
The public meeting is scheduled for Wednesday, February 3rd from 7:00 p.m. to 9:00 p.m. in the Auditorium of CD East High School. The keynote speaker will be Richard C. Dreyfuss.
Mr. Dreyfuss an actuary and business consultant. He worked for The Hershey Company (formerly Hershey Foods Corporation) for 21 years, and held numerous positions there, including director of compensation and benefits, prior to his retirement in 2002.
Mr. Dreyfuss Rick also was also involved in the establishment of the Pennsylvania Health Care Cost Containment Council in 1986 and was its Chair in 2001-02. This independent state agency is responsible for developing public reports giving comparative information about the most efficient and effective health care providers to individual consumers and group purchasers of health services and giving information to health care providers that they can use to identify opportunities to contain costs and improve the quality of care they deliver.
Mr. Dreyfuss has been instrumental in public sector employee benefit reform efforts in areas ranging from pension to healthcare and has been a policy resource to elected officials, the media and the general public. He has provided a template for comprehensive reform based upon sound public policy and financial principles.
Mr. Dreyfuss is a pension and health care expert who has written and testified before Congress and the Pennsylvania General Assembly on strategies to effectively manage long-term employee benefit costs.
Mr. Dreyfuss and the District will answer questions from the audience after the presentation. We will stay later if folks want to extend the conservation with Board members and District officials.
